The Mico University College, will on Sunday, November 19, 2017, host its “PUMP IT UP” 5K Run/Walk, for the second consecutive year. We are projecting two Thousand ( 2000) participants.
Proceeds from this 5K will help in providing scholarships to young men at risk to attend the University College's Pre-University Men's Programme (PUMP) which is the College's response to the national crisis of crime and violence.
Males, who do not meet the basic matriculation requirements to pursue a degree programme, are taken through a one year period of academic study and mentorship in order to meet these requirements. They are then afforded the opportunity to enter a degree programme of their choice.
110 young men have entered the formal programme, since 2008, through PUMP and have received many positive reviews from a number of stakeholders.
