Modern jazz shaped by Miami’s multicultural music scene takes the stage with original compositions by Abstract Citizen. Doors open Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. for a pre-show reception catered by The Fish House, followed by the concert at 8 p.m. in WDNA’s Jazz Gallery. Guitarist and composer Aaron Lebos leads the quartet with bassist Marty Quinn, vocalist Vania Junco and drummer Lucas Apostoleris. A longtime presence in South Florida music, Lebos has toured with jazz vocalist Nicole Henry and composed for Nu Deco Ensemble. Abstract Citizen brings those experiences into an ensemble sound grounded in jazz while drawing from the varied rhythms and musical traditions of Miami. A limited number of complimentary tickets are available for students, who are also invited to participate in a post-show jam session.
