An Evening of Songs and Stories With Patti Smith
October 8, 2026
About This Event
Songs, readings and personal reflections trace Patti Smith’s artistic life through the experiences explored in her memoir Bread of Angels. The program takes place Friday, October 9 at the Adrienne Arsht Center, where Smith will discuss the people, losses and creative influences that shaped her work. Presented with Books & Books and Miami Book Fair, the evening connects her writing with music from a career spanning poetry, rock and literature. Bread of Angels follows Smith from her postwar childhood and teenage discovery of art and romance through the development of her voice as a poet and songwriter. She reflects on the influence of Arthur Rimbaud and Bob Dylan, the creation of albums including Horses, Wave and Easter and the grief, family life and renewed commitment to writing that followed. Every full-price ticket includes a copy of Bread of Angels.
