. MacKenzie Greenwell Taps Into Nova Sinfonia presents blues, jazz, tap-inspired favourites and orchestral classics, featuring guest artist Halifax tap-dancer MacKenzie Greenwell, under the direction of conductor Christopher Palmer. The concert features music by Mozart, Handel, Gershwin and others, including Palmer’s own piece, From the Delta to Chicago: A Blues Journey. MacKenzie Greenwell (https://grnz.ca) is a tap dancer, choreographer, musician, educator and recognized figure in Canadian tap dance. He’s toured internationally with the acclaimed production Tap Dogs, and was a principal dancer with Toronto’s Rhythm & Sound Tap Company, serving as choreographer for the Canadian National Team in 2018. He co-founded Rhythmm, an organization dedicated to cultivating and expanding percussive dance throughout Atlantic Canada in 2023. He’s created A Tap Dance Though Time in collaboration with Symphony Nova Scotia, Beet Placement, a jazz-hop quartet where foot percussion takes on the role traditionally occupied by the drummer, and Embrace the Unknown, exploring creating music and art in the moment.
