The special edition, dubbed “To Bird with love”, is being staged to raise funds to assist the veteran drummer with the staggering financial challenges that he is facing in the aftermath of his recent near-fatal heart attack.
During his 36-year career, “Bird” has played for Bare Essentials, the Mighty Diamonds, the Marleys, Shaggy, the late John Holt, Yellow Man, Sean Paul, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Ernie Smith, and many more celebrated artistes. On the home front, in addition to being the featured drummer on major shows, “Bird” is a familiar and welcome performer at several venues, such as Jo Jo’s Jerk Pit and Jacob’s Place.
Gates will open at 6.30 on Saturday, 22 October and showtime will at 8.00 p.m. sharp. Food and drink will be on sale. As always, complimentary parking and shuttle service will be available from the nearby Tyre Warehouse.
The artiste line-up, which will include artistes with whom “Bird” has collaborated over the years, will be announced in the coming weeks.
