About

The Bob Hope Theatre is a historic 1930 movie palace in downtown Stockton, California, one of only two surviving movie palaces in the Central Valley. Built as the Fox California Theater and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was restored and reopened in 2004, when it was renamed for entertainer Bob Hope. The two-story rotunda holds a 1,200-square-foot Italian marble mosaic floor, and a restored 1928 Robert Morton theatre organ from Seattle's Fox Theatre is played during classic-film screenings. The 2,030-seat auditorium now hosts concerts, comedy, touring theatre, dance and a classic-cinema series, and the venue is operated as part of the Stockton Live venue group.
